Enjoy with us our life in Aotearoa, the Land of
the Long White Cloud.

New Zealand writer Michael King, in trying to convey some of the mysterious attraction of these islands, wrote:

"In the beginning was the land and the land was without people... ...without people, in fact, longer than any other continent or major island on earth..."

So make plans to explore these ingredients for an unforgettable experience: diverse and magnificent scenery; warm and interesting people in a matrix of cultures; and unique and unusual bird and animal life.

Enjoy with us our life in Aotearoa, the Land of the Long White Cloud.

The programme launches in Auckland, the City of Sails, and will include the Bay of Islands, the ancient kauri rainforests, the thermal regions and active volcanoes of the Central Volcanic Plateau.

A special feature will be an exploration of Maori culture in authentic settings.

Our North Island journey will end in Wellington which will give you an opportunity to enjoy this beautiful capital city in its spectacular setting, Te Papa the National Museum and Gallery of New Zealand, fine restaurants and street cafes, lovely colonial architecture and great seascapes.

To begin our South Island programme we fly to Christchurch, that most English of cities in a Pacific landscape. We will concentrate on the awe-inspiring scenery of the Canterbury Plains and the Southern Alps. We will also journey through the gardens, farms and wildlife of this beautiful island.

A highlight will be the Tranzalpine train journey up Arthur's Pass to a magnificent wilderness lodge, situated high in the peaks. In the days that follow we will explore the wild and lonely West Coast, with its glaciers and fiords. We will spend three nights at the famous Lake Moeraki Wilderness Lodge, and enjoy field trips and excursions with their enthusiastic guides.

We then move on to the lakes and peaks of the Queenstown/Wanaka area, site of the 1840s gold rush and now host to skiers, climbers and those in search of fine wines grown on the slopes above clear blue lakes.

We will drive through the mountains and sail on the Milford Sound, one of the most spectacular icons of world travel.

We have carefully chosen hotels and lodges for their comfort as well as their relaxed and welcoming hosts. All meals, accommodation, excursions, lectures, notes and transport are included. Throughout the country we will meet New Zealanders in their homes and farms.

There will be time for your own pursuits, be they rainbow trout fishing, superb sauvignon blanc wines, or art and literature. There will be presentations and discussions with a range of New Zealand authorities and observers.

Most of all, we plan to have fun. We assure you that no coach trip will have you in your seat for more than an hour before something interesting or exciting happens!
